An award winning artist, decorator and former NYC fashion industry designer, Catherine Armbruster of AUTHENTIC BLEU paints unique abstract ocean art with her signature blue colors.

 

Catherine’s love of art began in her youth. After winning the NJ Teen Arts Festival competition with a Matisse colored pencil rendering, she was inspired to follow an artistic career and studied fashion design and art in college. She hand painted her textile prints and designed digital CAD artwork for companies in NYC such as Calvin Klein, Banana Republic, The Gap and many others. Her reward was seeing people on the subway or NYC streets wearing her designs. Interior decorating was a natural progression and Catherine then layered her love of textile patterns, art and color into spaces for beautiful decor.

 

Now gratefully living in sunny Sarasota, Catherine is inspired to create a unique collection of ocean themed abstract art. Her ART brand, Authentic Bleu is “Ocean-themed, always BLUE, Authentic and created to inspire wonder for the ocean and life”.  She creates movement and energy in her beautiful, layered acrylic and mixed media paintings. These one of a kind artworks are for sale in a variety of sizes/prices, including limited edition signed giclees and prints.

 

With creativity deeply rooted in her soul and an affinity for ART and the OCEAN, Catherine is also passionate about saving the ocean from plastic. By 2050, it is said that there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans. She helps to keep plastic out of the ocean by up-cycling/re-purposing single use plastic and turning it into art! To show others how to up-cycle, she teaches fun classes on how to “create art with a purpose” and help save the ocean and teaches at various locations. She has also presented her works in the prestigious "Artist in Residence" program showcasing her special ocean collection at boutique Art Ovation Hotel in downtown Sarasota as well as other competitions. The summer months you will see her in the NYC area creating new collections and participating in the art world.
